Our staff and volunteers work hard to provide you with a plethora of opportunities to experience Restorative Practices. Whether you're brand new to this whole "Restorative" thing, went to a training and want to continue skill-building, or are an experienced practitioner looking to get connected to a community of other practitioners, you are welcome! Remember, this is Restorative Practice, not Restorative Perfect! We're all practicing and building our Restorative muscles here.
We host weekly practice opportunities at ECRJC. Our goal is that a Restorative Response becomes the instinctual response, not the punitive responses that permeate our society today. To do that, we need to practice!
First Thursday: Community Circle
Volunteers Erricka Willard and Dayna Overton-Burns co-facilitate a community building circle on the first Thursday of the month. They try to announce the topic the week of, so get on our email list to stay updated. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and process our daily lives or current events in a restorative, supportive environment.
Second Thursday: Community Circle
Community and relationship building are the heart of Restorative Practices, so Social Work Intern Anthony Laureano hosts another community building building circle on the second Thursday of the month.
Third Thursday: Youth Circle
The third Thursday of the month is all about youth. Youth Coordinators Charis Humphrey and Jamien Eutsey chooses topics that are all youth focused. All are welcome to attend!
Fourth Thursday: Conferencing Roleplay
Program and Case Coordinator Lindsay Acker runs a Restorative Conference Role Play on the fourth Thursday of the month. Come practice faciitating a Restorative Conference (or help by putting your acting hat on and playing the role of a participant!). Please register in advance so Lindsay can pick a scenario that fits the group size.
Fifth Thursday: Practitioner Meet Up
On the months where we are lucky enough to have five Thursdays, join us for a practitioner meet up! We'll meet in person (Covid permitting) to catch up, update each other on our Restorative endeavors, problem solve our road blocks, and generally have a good time. Facilitators, watch your inboxes for more information!
Additional Practice Opportunities
Can't make Thursday's work? We often have other practice opportunities on other days of the week! Keep an eye on this section for information about circle writing workshops, educator support circles, and other practice opportunities coming up.
Second Saturday: Educator Support Circles
School Specialist Debbie Mulhern hosts a monthly circle for educators on the second Saturday of the month. Join her to debrief your week and build relationships with other Restorative educators in the area!
